Dear Parents, Carers, Friends and Community Stakeholders of students at Banovallum School,

We are writing to share a proposal and invite your comments about plans to extend the educational offer from Banovallum School.  Within our trust, young people are at the heart of decision making and we aim to ensure that students receive the best possible educational experience and we prepare them well for the next stage of their journey. 

The current educational landscape means that nationally there is a shortage of places for those young people who need additional support outside of a mainstream school setting in order to overcome barriers, access education and achieve their potential. The settings that support this are known as Alternative Provision.  We are committed to serve all young people well and this is an area where we know we can make a difference to families where these challenges exist.

Our Proposals:

We propose to create a satellite of Banovallum School to specifically support students who need this level of support, to be located at our nearby site in New York village. 

Banovallum is a good school, with strength of leadership and teaching expertise, along with values and ethos that promote inclusion and create a sense of belonging.  We plan to mirror these elements through the creation of a satellite that will support young people who have struggled in mainstream education with social and emotional needs.  The values of Banovallum are intrinsically linked to what we aim to instil for young people who attend the satellite.
