Proposed changes within our Trust
Like other public sectors, financial challenges within education are exceptionally high and as a consequence we are considering some changes within our Trust.
After a few years of using Trust reserves to protect employment contracts and following significant rises in national insurance, pensions costs and national pay increases, proposals have been announced for a staffing restructure to identify savings of 6%.
A significant amount of work has been carried out with Headteachers, the Chief Financial Officer and Trustees, we also invited support from the Department of Education and an external specialist HR provider, to arrive at a potential solution to ensure high educational standards are maintained whilst containing costs. Following consultation with our staff in March and April 2026, we are pleased to share that voluntary solutions have been secured which means compulsory redundancies have been avoided.
In respect of teachers, time for planning, preparation and assessment, and time for leadership activities, will be realigned with effect from September 2026, slightly increasing the time each teacher spends in the classroom delivering teaching and learning.
Trustees and our Executive Leadership Team believe they have found the best way in which to continue delivering the curriculum through quality teaching and learning by a high proportion of specialists, whilst ensuring sufficient support is in place.
Our goal remains the protection of high standards of teaching, support and student safety while ensuring each school’s longer term financial health. Our small local Trust is like one big family and these decisions are never easy. Our focus is on creating a sustainable path forward that allows us to continue delivering the high-quality education our young people deserve.
We thank you for your understanding whilst we navigate change during this difficult period.
