Governance... for the Audit Committee

Our Audit Committee assist the Trust Board to ensure that effective systems of control are in place and risk is identified, assessed and managed.

Audit Committee- meet a minimum of three times per year

  • Advise the Board and Accounting Officer (CEO) on the adequacy and effectiveness of the Trust’s governance, risk management, internal control and value for money systems and frameworks.
  • Recommend the programme for the independent checking of financial controls, systems, transactions and risk
  • Approve risk management processes
  • Ensure the annual external audit, and programme of internal assurance, is completed and outcomes/ recommendations acted upon
  • Advise the Trust Board on the appointment, re-appointment, dismissal and remuneration of auditors or other assurance providers
  • Advise the Members on the appointment, re-appointment, dismissal and remuneration of the external auditors
  • Receive reports from auditors and other bodies e.g. ESFA and consider any issues raised, the associated management response and action plans
  • Review the Trust’s arrangements in response to fraud and ensure that all allegations of fraud or irregularity are managed and investigated appropriately
  • Review the Trust’s Whistleblowing Policy and ensure that all allegations of fraud or irregularity are managed and investigated appropriately
  • Meet with the external auditor or other assurance provider at least annually
